Speed and Simplicity by Alex Lear

Kip Stone and Ryan Finn sat at the Freeport Cafe last Thursday, enjoying their last cooked meal before sailing out of Harraseeket Harbor that afternoon, catching some wind and not looking back until they arrive in St. Malo, France, 12 days and 3,000 miles later. [Link to Article...]

Audio of Merf Owen - TJV interview

"We have our first day sailing where there's blue sky; it's been very gray since leaving Lorient after taking on the second mainsail... We have good speed and a nice direction out to the west of the fleet and all is well on board Artforms." [Link to Article...]

The Struggle by Merfyn Owen

(To read all the TJV reports by Merf, visit the link below and click on 'General'). "It's twenty four hours since we left the French (nee Breton) port of Lorient and on the port bow I can already see the lights of the Spanish coast. Lia Ditton interviews Kip Stone

Kip jams on the brakes and his front wheel grinds to a halt beside me. He cackles an unexpectedly deep and resonant laughter. Clambering over the guard rail of his Open 50 Artforms, we head for the nav station where I get the opportunity to meet Kip Stone. [Link to Article...]

Miles to go Before I Sleep by Tim Zimmermann

... Managing sleep deprivation is a critical skill in the solo-sailing racing game, and Harris—who finished second to Stone after another week of difficult conditions—knew he was risking a meltdown with his mad dash for the lead. Four months before the Transat, he had been to see Dr. Claudio Stampi, the 51-year-old sole proprietor of the Newton, Massachusetts-based Chronobiology Research Institute... [Link to Article...]
